What’s the problem?

Your skin feels dry or ‘tight’. It may be so dry that your skin ‘flakes’ a bit, usually around the nose and mouth.

Quick Fixes

A face mask is a quick way to treat dry skin. Have a steamy shower, scrub your face and immediately apply a mask like the Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask for 10 minutes. Rinse off and apply a good moisturiser.

Skincare Solutions

If your skin is dry, you need to moisturise your skin with appropriate products. The best way to apply these is straight after a shower onto damp skin to lock in extra moisture. Do it before you towel off.

You can do this all over your face or only concentrate on the areas that’re dry (like the beard area).

Also, try to avoid foaming cleansers that may dry out your skin. Your best bet is to use a non-foaming, creamy cleanser.

Recommended Products

  • CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser – A cleanser that leaves skin feeling comfortable and moisturised.
  • Indeed Labs Hydraluron – Highly recommend this gel-based product; use this as a moisture booster. First apply a tiny bit to damp skin and then follow up with any moisturiser to lock everything in. It leaves skin incredibly moisturised.
  • Eucerin Aquaphor – This moisturising balm is great to apply to specific dry/flaky spots on your face, they’ll be gone in a a day or two.
  • Avene Hydrance Optimal – A best-selling, ultra nourishing facial cream that’s gentle on sensitive skin.
  • Egyptian Magic – A thick, multi-purpose, oily balm for very dry skin.
  • Selexir Peace Balm – This balm is pricey but you only need a tiny amount to instantly hydrate incredibly dry or irritated skin. I’ve only heard rave reviews.
  • Darphin Intral Cream – A cult favourite product, this rich cream hydrates and soothes irritated/red skin.
