Is Stress Causing Your Skin Issues?

Oi! Stop that!

Here are three good reasons why you need to take a moment and relax.

  • Acne: All that stress can cause your body to increase its production of hormones which lead to more breakouts. Remember all those breakouts you got during exam time?
  • Psoriasis: The actual cause of psoriasis (commonly seen as red and white ‘scaly’ patches of skin) is unknown but emotional stress is a known factor to trigger attacks of the disease.
  • Eczema: Like psoriasis, stress doesn’t cause eczema but increased levels of stress can precipitate or aggravate a particularly bad attack of this type.

Do you have one of the skin issues above? I’d highly recommend taking a second and looking at your daily stress levels to see whether they could be a contributing factor.

No, erasing all stress won’t rid you of these complaints but there’s good reason to believe that decreasing levels of stress can help ease them. Besides skin (just for a second!), stress can also have a very negative impact upon your health.

Here’s a (free!) way you can help yourself:

From 1 til 3.30 pm this Thursday 28th June at  http://experts.axappphealthcare.co.uk/stress/live-chat, AXA PPP healthcare will be hosting a live chat to address any and all questions you have about stress.

Hosting the chat will be expert Dr Mark Winwood. He has some pretty impressive credentials…

Mark is clinical director for psychological health for AXA PPP healthcare’s specialist Health Services division. He holds associate fellowship and chartership with the British Psychological Society and is also accredited by the Health Professional Council and a chartered scientist.

If you can’t make it to the live chat, then you can just leave your question in the comments below, or get in touch via Facebook and Twitter and AXA PPP will get in touch with a response from Dr Winwood. Handy!

For more information, about both the chat and stress in general, you can try looking through the AXA PPP healthcare tips here.

Go on, it’s free, useful and you can do it anonymously.

Really enjoyed reading your blog, i am really into skincare and not so many nice blogs for men on the net or i have not been able to find them. You surely have a regular visitor now :) Just wanted to know if men also need to exfoliate, i am told we get the exfoliation done as we shave.
