Trend: Guys With Long Hair
We haven’t seen this trend in full-force since the 80s but it’s back! Take a look at magazines and TV-screens and you’ll notice a large amount of men now sporting long hair. I’m not talking emo-swoosh here, I mean full-on flowing locks.
Take a look at the gallery below and tell me; would you?
If you’re looking to try this one out, you’re in luck! Shockwaves Style Director, Michael Douglas has given you some exclusive tips for taming longer hair:
- If you have long hair I would recommend using an anti-frizz serum as this will smooth the hair’s surface, helping it to look healthy whilst preventing those annoying frizzy fly-aways. The Shockwaves Shine & Anti-Frizz Serum (75ml, £2.99) helps to control unruly hair while protecting hair from heat-related styling damage without weighing the hair down.
- If your hair is long, it often needs a little bit of added texture. I would apply a foam-styled wax such as the Shockwaves Shine & Texture Foam Wax (150ml, £2.99) which adds long lasting style to the hair.
- I will often use two different styling products, each one having a different purpose. Resin based products (PVP) such as gels or mousse, help create hold and volume, giving body to the hair. Silicon based products such as sprays or wax, help provide shine and definition, giving the hair texture. For certain hair types such as longer hair, or for certain styles such as the sweep, it is often necessary to use two products to create a strong look.
So, would you do it? I think Messrs. Pitt and Brady prove that being good-looking doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll look good with long hair. Think about the shape of your face, your style (clean-cut and long-haired is a weird combo) and – if in doubt – ask everyone before you take the plunge!
