Review: Doctor Brand Blemish Relief
I’m not a huge fan of 3-step skincare sets, simply because you rarely like all three products. However, they’re handy for beginners and – in the case of the Doctor Brand Blemish Relief set – it works!
I gave this to somebody in the office with a nephew dealing with acne and – after using the system for 2 weeks - his skin had cleared up dramatically. Enough for him to be happy to repurchase the set!
Firstly, this set isn’t benzoyl peroxide based so it won’t dry out your skin or bleach your sheets. Good stuff!
1. The Doctor Brand Purifying Cleanser – This is a gentle foaming cleanser that contains 0.5 salicylic acid. It lathers up nicely and rinses without leaving skin feeling dry.
2. Pore Clearing Gel – A thin gel product containing 0.5% of their proprietary acne formula. It’s light, dries down quickly and feels like nothing on the skin.
3. Soothing Oil-Free Lotion – Again this contains a 0.5% acne treatment but this time in a light, oil control lotion. It’s moisturisng but it leaves a nice matte finish – perfect if you have both oily and dry bits on your skin (which most acne prones do).
All in all, a good kit for those with mild acne – especially people looking for an easy 3-step system. If you have moderate to severe acne, this is a nice basic kit but you’d definitely need to see a doctor about stronger options such as retinoids, antibiotics or – in severe cases – Accutane. Retails for around £20 at Boots.

My skin is getting ichy and red spots, are these acne or are they just rashes.
