Your morning shave’s about to get a little more fancy…
I recently had the opportunity to put a few products from the ESPA range to the test. ESPA is a luxury spa range that has a brilliant skincare line including a solid Men’s selection.
Before I begin with reviews, i’ll say that right off the bat – ESPA products are a joy to use. Maybe it’s because ESPA’s a Spa range, the products are functional, smell bloody amazing and feel great on the skin. Enough to turn shaving from chore to daily indulgence for the few weeks that i’ve been using the products.
On to the reviews!
A deep cleansing exfoliator to revitalise, clear and smooth.
To guarantee a really close shave you need to cleanse and exfoliate for a smooth, supple start. Clarifying Fossilised particles unblock pores, sweeps away dull cells and lifts ingrowing hairs to tackle congestion. Cooling Eucalyptus freshens, Moringa Seed Extract hydrates, while antibacterial Lavender soothes and guards against blemishes for revitalised, healthy looking skin.
This is a very smooth, grainy face scrub – just how I like ‘em. It smells great, feels very refreshing on the skin and un-plugs every last bump or flake of dry skin between bristles to prep the skin for shaving. A really nice scrub – best used in the shower so your skin is soft (and the steam carries the scent really well, which is always nice).
The ultimate formula for a smooth, comfortable shave and purified skin.
A first in men’s grooming, this addictive shavemud doubles as a deep cleansing mask to nourish your skin and replace lost nutrients, whilst giving you an incredibly comfortable shave and banish razor burn firmly into the past. Highly absorbent Kaolin and Bentonite clays draw out impurities and improve razor glide for the ultimate smooth shave. Shea butter and Sweet Almond Oil soften, nourish and de-sensitise, while Cocoa extract inhibits hair growth for skin that’s softer and smoother for longer.
Such a brilliant idea, it’s a wonder that this kind of product doesn’t exist already! As a shaving cream, the shavemud is slick and provides a really nice glide for your blade – leaving you with a close shave. As a face mask, it smells amazing, feels slightly warming on the skin and draws out impurities in the skin like a regular face mask. It leaves your skin shine-free, calm and clear. I wouldn’t set much store by that ‘inhibits hair growth’ bit but the rest is ace.
Application tip: Apply the Shavemud all over your face, have a regular shave and then smear the excess Shavemud all over your beard area after shaving. Once that’s done, wait a few minutes (brush your teeth, drink some coffee…) and then rinse. The kaolin helps to calm skin post-shave, reduce redness and seal minor cuts and scrapes. If you’re shaving on a big day, you need this stuff.
All in all, a brilliant little line up that’s transformed my shaving routine over the last few weeks. I’ll keep repurchasing the Shavemud until they stop making it!
