Review: LUSH Dirty

I’ll speed review this new men’s line from Lush because, to be honest, it’s on my desk and the smell’s making me feel a bit sick. Don’t let that put you off though, there’s something here that I quite like!

Lush Dirty

Dirty was a classic range in B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful for its crisp and fresh spearmint notes, clean burst of salt air and herbal fragrance. Simon scented each product with a different accord of the finished Dirty perfume. Layer the products and build the perfume back up again! Try it on your skin and you won’t be sorry.

Body Spray – This stuff reeks. I sprayed it once in the office and was met with a chorus of ‘what the hell is that smell?!’. We had to air out the office for an hour and it was a cold day. It smells cheap, strong, herbal and just… not nice. Avoid.

Styling Cream – Smells the same as the body spray, except stronger and it’s on your head. The actual product’s quite moisturising and shiny which might be nice if you have lots of long hair. Left my short hair looking oily and smelling gross though.

Shaving Cream – This doesn’t smell bad, just a bit herb-y. The cream itself is thick and very moisturising which means you have to rinse your blade quite often or it’ll get all clogged up. On the plus side, it delivers a comfy shave and leaves skin feeling incredibly soft and moisturised. Might be worth looking in to if you have sensitive, dry skin.

Toothy Tabs – Amazing! Toothy Tabs are little tabs of solid toothpaste – just crush one between your teeth, brush with a damp brush and rinse. Brilliant for travel.

All in all, a bit disappointing apart from the Toothy Tabs which i’ve since repurchased for travel. Highly recommend smelling things from Lush before purchasing…

I'd hardly say this was a fair review, like the last Lush review I saw here. Firstly the body spray is strong, very strong for two reasons. It's just not just a 'body spray' it's actually closer to a perfume, is made using essential oils (not synthetics) so much like an EDP has to be left to settle. The concept behind the spray is what is know as an 'italian shower' where some men would sooner just spray their clothes with deodorant than take a shower when in a hurry the day after a night out - hence it is designed to cut through any other smell (it's made to be strong). There is also a bit of research behind it in regards to spearmint being an aphrodisiac but I won't get into that. In comparison to a lot of the body sprays on the market currently though I would say they pale in comparison, the smell from this is going to last all day long for a start. Secondly the styling cream smells nothing like the body spray, it shares some ingredients but it does actually have a completely different smell so I'm a little unsure what you were smelling.

Hi DM, Fair comment, i'm just going by my experience with the products (which I used for a few weeks). Have you used them yourself? If you have, do leave a mini review in the comments for people to read - always nice to have a second opinion!
