Simple Skincare: Muslin Cloths
Muslin cloths are a brilliant way to exfoliate your skin if you’re sensitive to regular scrubs. Particularly great if any of the following applies to you.
- Dry ‘flakes’ of skin.
- Are on any kind of harsh skin treatment like acutane and retinoids.
- You have sensitive skin.
- You shave regularly but would like to use a daily scrub too.
- You’re into eco-conscious skincare.
How to use them? Gently massage your cleanser all over your face using your fingers and then begin to massage your face with the (damp) cloth. The texture of muslin really sweeps the skin clean without irritating it; sloughing away any dry/flaky bits. Be gentle and work in small circles all over your face. Once you’re done, rinse and you’re finished! Smooth, bright skin that’s squeaky clean.
Where to get them? Most places carry muslin cloths and they needn’t cost an arm and a leg. Liz Earle has some nice ones, as does The Body Shop. Baby washcloths work just as well if you’re on a budget. Pop them into your washing machine at 40 degrees after every two uses to keep them fresh – eco friendly!

do you think using this on acne spots would aggravate them or spread bacteria and make new ones pop up? and also do you think this would help with congested skin?
