Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel

Today’s product from my drawer of weird and wonderful cult Asian skincare (sidenote: skincare is a big deal in Asia, dontcha know?) is the Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel.

This mild exfoliating gel, gently removes dull surface skin cells to reveal radiant skin. The naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acid in strawberry sloughs away dead skin cells which may clog pores and cause breakouts. The soft gel formula is non-abrasive and will not irritate skin. Apply a small amount on cleansed and damp face and then massage gently. Rinse off with lukewarm water. Use once or twice weekly.

Laneige is a popular skincare line from Korea and this is one of it’s best-selling products. Peeling Gels are a weird product type, quite popular in Asia and bound to make it to the West eventually. It’s a very gentle exfoliant, perfect for people that don’t do well with regular grainy scrubs. Best of all, it contains moisturising oils and a very mild AHA to brighten and hydrate skin post-scrub.

Texture/scent – It smells amazing. Don’t eat it. Texture’s thick and gooey, feels nice on dry skin.

How to use it - It says apply to damp skin but it definitely works best on skin post shower and patted dry. Massage a good sized blob into your skin. As you massage you’ll notice the product begin to gather into what looks and feels like rubber (eraser) shavings. Keep rubbing those on your skin, focusing on your dry/dull patches. Once you’re done, rinse!

Results – After rubbing and rinsing, skin feels soft, bright and moisturised. It actually did a better job than grainy scrubs at getting rid of a resiliant patch of dry skin between my brows. I guess it’s the friction that did it.

Overall – This is a good product and works well – I’d definitely recommend it to people who have sensitive skin. However – for my non-sensitive skin – I still prefer the feeling of a good grainy scrub. It’s not exactly cheap at $28 either. Still though, a nice product and worth trying if you can.
