Review: La Roche Posay Effaclar H
A nice one if you have dry skin or acne-prone skin that’s been dried out by acne meds!
EFFACLAR H moisturizes oily skin weakened by drying skin care products. It also provides skin with the lipids it lacks to reconstitute the protective hydrolipidic film and contains Ceramide 5 (patent pending) to reinforce the skin’s barrier function. It restores comfort and suppleness. Formula rich in La Roche-Posay thermal spring water and Bisabolol to soothe irritations and redness.
Quick review today because this is a simple, very effective moisturiser. It’s rich in moisturisers and barrier restoring ingredients. This is all contained within a simple formula that shouldn’t aggravate even the most acne-prone or sensitive skins. Perfectly formulated for skin that’s usually oily but completely dried out thanks to acne medication.
The texture is quite light, nice as a night cream but it might leave you a little bit shiny during the day. Let’s bullet point the rest, shall we?
- Heals stripped skin following acne medication.
- Perfect to use alongside things like Benzoyl Peroxide, Accutane and retinoids.
- Calms skin, moisturises and leaves it feeling ‘normal’.
- A little goes a long way! A pea-size amount will do.
I gave this to someone to test for a few weeks in conjuction with the robust acne medication they use (Accutane and Differin). Within a week, all their dry, flaky patches had disappeared – as well as the irritated red bits around their mouth. Skin felt balanced and moisturised; not too dry, not too oily. Perfect!
If you think you have any of the problems above, I highly recommend giving this a shot. At about £11 it’s good value for money too! If you live in the UK you can grab it at Boots.

Don't forget the teeth!
Ooooh that’s brilliant! My friend is on Accutane and needs some help, I’ll show her this article!
Also, I couldn’t find LRP Active C anywhere. Boots doesn’t sell it, and when I try to find shopping places in Google it only lists the one for the eye.
^LRP active C is called LRP redermic now I think…
I’ve bought this a few times. Although it does do its job of healing severely dried/over-exfoliated skin (I use Retin-A Micro for acne), it leaves a burning sensation to the skin. If I just have a little dryness, then this works fine, but if I’m trying to heal raw, red skin, the first day of putting this on will hurrrt and make my skin even more red.
