Harrods Gentlemen’s Lounge, click to view the impressive array of products!

I recently strolled down to Knightsbridge (amidst student protests!) to take a look at the recently launched Gentleman’s Lounge at Harrods and left incredibly impressed! It’s a brilliant combination of old-school barber shop with high-tech products and treatments on offer. Even the decor is part men’s lounge and part science lab! Easily the best, most comprehensive grooming space i’ve ever seen.

Since it’s Harrods there is, of course, a bit of history behind the location. The lounge is located on the lower ground floor and the oldest part of Harrods; the site was originally home to the Green Man Pub where London’s most fashionable men would meet to smoke cigars and discuss politics. There’s still an element of that in the Gentleman’s Lounge where you’ll find a Whiskey Mist bar sitting alongside the latest products from SK-II – it’s weird but it works.

In the retail section you’ll find all the best skincare from Kiehl’s to Biotherm’s new Force line and I was happy to note that they haven’t limited their selection to ‘for Men’ products. Clearly Harrods has a buyer after my own heart because you’ll also find lines like M-Lab, SK-II and Skinceuticals sitting amongst the extensive collection.

It can look a bit overwhelming but the staff are trained well and can help you whittle down products to 3 or 4 that would work for you – leaving the final decision to the customer. No pushy counter staff here!

The fragrance selection is vast and well-chosen; Tom Ford, Creed Guerlain, Acqua di Parma… As for gadgets, they have the latest in grooming technology on show from the Clarisonic, to Slendertone Face for Men (review coming soon!) and teeth whitening products from Go Smile.

On the other side of the Lounge, away from the bar and retail section, is The Refinery. They offer image consultancy, classic barbering, shaves, massages, waxing, threading… Pretty much everything a guy could need in a sleek, masculine and – above all else – private atmosphere.

You could definitely stop by the Gentleman’s Lounge and leave a completely different (possibly slightly drunk) man. It’s everything you could ever want in terms of grooming and it’s all handily under the same roof. Every brand and every treatment, all housed in a relaxed, chic and masculine atmosphere. If you’re ever in London, I highly recommend visiting. Ladies, if you’re looking to treat the men in your life any time soon, stop by! You can even take him to have a few treatments at The Refinery and drinks with Sky Sports afterwards whilst you shop – perfect!

Definitely worth a visit, the space is gorgeous, they stock all my favourite lines and the therapists on staff are brilliant. You can find it on the Lower Ground Floor of Harrods – where The Refinery and the Green Man Pub used to be.
