Review: Kiehl’s Fragrance Oils

20090616000012631 Review: Kiehls Fragrance Oils
Quick mention of a cool find at Kiehl’s. Ever since reviewing that Tom Ford rollerball i’ve been on the hunt for unisex or male rollerball fragrances. Well I’ve finally found them in the Essence Oil line at Kiehl’s!

The Essence Oil line consists of around 10 fragrance oils (musk, grapefruit, corriander, ‘pour homme’, vanilla, pear…) that’re contained in a pocket-sized rollerball. Fragrance oils are a lot more concentrated than parfums (apparently) so a little rollerball should last you quite a long time. I’ve had mine for about 6 months now with barely anything used.  The oils are quite thin, long lasting but don’t smell incredibly strong applied. This is the kind of thing you can throw on at the office without potentially pissing someone off.

Roll a tiny bit onto your wrists and touch on your neck for an amazing fragrance that lasts almost the entire day. I bought two of these to test:

Grapefruit: I’m a sucker for anything Grapefruit scented and this is perfect. It’s sweet but not overly so and not a touch of floral to be found. It’s very fresh and zesty, great as a pick-me-up when you’re feeling a bit gross and sluggish. People in the office like this one too.

Pour Homme: Starts off a little bit citrus, dries down very spicy and woody. It’s interesting and pretty much spot-on for winter. This is a big hit on Basenotes.net – the place to be for fragrance afficionados. Apparenly this scent is a dead ringer for the popular Oscar de la Renta men’s fragrance ‘Pour Lui’.

These fragrance oils are fantastic; they last forever and they’re the perfect way to freshen up without having to lug bottles around. All the scents I smelt at the counter were unique but clean and non-offensive. Highly recommended!

Got ‘pour homme’ for the man and ‘amber’ ‘vanilla’ & ‘musk’ for myself.. general idea is good but the scents are too concentrated, especially the sweeter ones. They smell almost pungent! The only one which was a hit with us both was musk.. the others hit the bin!

Ahh really? I find they’re okay when you use a tiny bit… Must try out the musk! I can’t say I was a huge fan of ‘Corriander’ – gross.

      Thanks for the comment, Tali!

  2. I love vanilla and musk, indeed fragrance oils are concentrated but I still love its sweet smell. I even love those with chocolate scents.
