Ila Spa Face Oil for Glowing Radiance

I’m always a bit dubious about so-called ‘organic’ products as there’s no real regulation on the term – in fact a lot of organic products aren’t organic at all and it’s a fact I try to stress on SCforM.

So, being the skincare skeptic that I am, I was both surprised and pleased to realise how much time and effort goes into making Ila Spa a truly organic range. Sold in niche spas all over the world, Ila Spa is a brand created by modern day (and I mean this in the best possible way) hippy Denise Leicester who personally travels to each country where her ingredients are produced to ensure they’re organic and that the communities are taken care of. Even she agrees that organic certification doesn’t count for much these days – the only way to be sure is to go there yourself.

She’s also someone that won’t bat an eyelid at spending £10,000 on a litre of the highest quality Rose Oil and refuses to use tap water in her products.  Gotta love that!

First up for review from the line is the cult fave Face Oil.

Face Oil for Glowing Radiance has become a cult product worldwide. Women and men love the feel, smell and results this ‘little miracle’ oil brings. We have extended our glowing radiance range further to encompass a complete nurturing experience from bathing to body to face.

After cleansing and toning your face, smooth a few drops (no more than 5) into your skin, allowing the scent to work on your senses. Massage gently with brushing strokes over face and neck.

The essential oil of damascena rose otto is deeply regenerative and nourishing to the skin’s cells as well as bringing glowing radiance. Argan oil and rosehip seed oil are high in anti-oxidants and fatty acids to fight wrinkles and help skin cells to regenerate.

Texture - The oil is rich yet runny and it smells fantastic. The oils are incredibly pure and it doesn’t smell anything like the usual organic stuff i’ve tried. It really is a luxury product.

How to use it - The packaging is pretty great; heavy, ceramic and there’s a dropper inside that’s controlled with a little button on top. For the best results, take shower and massage about 3 to 5 drops into your skin whilst it’s still damp to lock in maximum moisture. Best way to do  it is to drop them into your palm, rub your hands together and then massage that into your face.

The entire Ila Spa range!

Results – The ingredients list is quite simple; full of oils that have been proven to be full of antioxidants, fatty acids and anti-inflammatory agents. The result? Really well moisturised, glowing skin that looks and feels smooth, plump and bright. Redness is dimished and the fatty acids really help to repair damaged skin.

Having said that, it’s full of very pure oils that might be an issue for acne prone or sensitive skin. Although it absorbs really well, it does leave an oily film on the skin so it’s not ideal to use during the day either.

Overall – This face oil is a real indulgence product, I can tell why it’s so popular with men and women. It smells amazing, feels great and you wake up feeling amazing. I think the scent helps to relax me before bed too. You guys know i’m not a huge fan of ‘organic’ skincare but I appreciate the quality of this stuff and the effort put into it.

Denise gave us a brilliant analogy; you wouldn’t buy fruit in a store that’s ‘only a little bit’ organic, so why would you take that same risk with your skin? So if you are going to buy Organic (and I know a lot of your prefer to!) then this is a line I can happily recommend!

You can purchase Ila Spa products worldwide, there’s a full list on the site here.

Sidenote; Denise also mentioned a story about a lorry driver who came to Ila Spa to collect some products to send out. He was drawn to the smell and – on hearing it was the face oil and asking if it might heal his dry skin and black eye(!) – he drove away, came back a bit later and decided to buy the bottle for a cool £55. Oh but he didn’t want to the box – too pink – he just slipped it in his back pocket and drove off.

I love the whole concept about ila products and as a man I’m also skeptical about the whole organic business. Well let me share you my experience with ila. I tried out their rainforest range but had to stop it after 2 weeks of daily use because I started breaking out like I was back in highschool. It was horrible considering I had clear skin before I started using them. I immediately switched back to my old routine of retinol, salicylic acid, and hypoallergenic moisturisers with sunblock. Had to endure 3 months of acne marks and the teasing that comes with it and finally a trip to my dermatologist before they completely disappeared. I felt silly for having to experiment with these products and forgot basic tenets of skincare. Scented oils are a big NO for sensitive skin especially those prone to acne. Don’t get me wrong, I still love ila but it won’t replace my daily skin regimen. Ila have excellent spa treatments worldwide that I very much recommend.
