Review – Illamasqua Matt Primer

illamasqua satin primer spf20 Review Illamasqua Matt Primer
Nobody wants shiny skin and that’s probably why there are literally hundreds (if not thousands) of oil control products on the market at the moment.

So where to start? Well one of my all-time favourites is Illamasqua’s Matt Primer – it’s lightweight, runny and controls oil exceptionally well. Developed by makeup artists (don’t worry, it’s colourless!) it was designed to keep skin matte under harsh studio lights and thick layers of makeup. What’s more, you only need to apply a little bit of this over your regular moisturiser to keep your skin matte so it lasts forever.

IMGA0039 224x300 Review Illamasqua Matt PrimerHow to use it? Just like a lotion, rub a small amount into the areas of your face that tend to become oily. You can apply this over your regular moisturiser and reapply through the day.

Pros

  • Controls oil exceptionally well, even on my notoriously shiny forehead.
  • SPF20! You won’t be using enough to get the full protection but it’s nice for you sunscreen-phobics out there.

Cons

  • Use too much and the sunscreen in this might leave you looking a bit pale, just like any other sunscreen.
  • Price is sort of steep for such a small tube but it lasts forever.
  • Might work a little too well, I find that this definitely worsens areas of the skin that are already dry so be sure to only apply to shiny bits.

Overall. Fantastic product, well worth trying out if most oil control products tend not to work for you. I’ve been through a lot of them and this is by far my favourite.
