Review – No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Anti-Ageing Moisturiser
Smooth deep lines and wrinkles and help delay new ones with this protecting & renewing daytime formula. Created to answer to your skin’s needs now and help it have a more youthful future. It is the perfect partner to our Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum, formulated to be used together to deliver even better results than the serum alone.
The unique triple protective power of SPF15, 5 star UVA technology and our patent pending antioxidant complex gives your skin advanced protection from the ageing effects of the sun and the environment, while our skin firming pro-retinol complex containing Lipopeptides and Alfalfa Extract works to help restore skin’s structure and maintain elasticity.
I decided to try out both the Men’s and Women’s version on the hunch that they were the same thing and – guess what – they are! The only difference between the two is that the women’s version is thicker and slightly more moisturising (thanks to the addition of shea butter) and the men’s one has a very subtly different scent. Just goes to show, there’s no real difference in skincare between the two sexes – just different packaging!
Here’s a really brief speed-review of what’s actually a brilliant product.
Pros
- With a low SPF and high PPD rating, this is a perfect day cream for winter when burning isn’t much of an issue but you still need good protection from UVA rays. This offers better sun protection than 99% of other moisturisers with SPF 15 on the market. I’ll be breaking this out once winter’s in full force.
- This is a moisturising cream, again this makes it perfect for winter when skin tends to become a little drier. The Men’s version is less moisturising and dries to a nice, almost matte finish. The Women’s version contains shea butter which makes it thicker and more moisturising.
- It also contains a nice amount of peptides and antioxidants to treat the skin as you wear it. Nothing revolutionary but it’s a nice anti-ageing addition to a brilliant day cream. It also contains Retinol which I don’t like in day products but the sunscreen should ensure you only see the beneficial, anti-ageing effects of it.
- One pump of the Men’s version gives you the exact amount of sunscreen you need to get the listed protection – handy!
Cons
- The women’s version comes in a jar which is unsanitary and also weakens the beneficial ingredients in it (air exposure).
- The Men’s version is slightly scented but it wears off after a few seconds.
- Too moisturising for oily skin.
Overall
This is a brilliant day cream to use during the Autumn/Winter months. It has less SPF but an incredibly high PPD which means it’ll give you fantastic protection from the ageing rays of the sun. If you don’t like wearing high SPF products in the summer, i’d say this is the perfect day cream to use all year round – not just in winter. Although you may want to avoid this if you have oily skin. No7 has always had good suncare and this is no different – it’s a really well formulated anti-ageing product. SCforM recommended.
If I had to choose between the two, I’d say go for the Men’s one – the packaging is better and it dispenses the right amount of product for it to work as an anti-ageing product.
