The hated razors.
Quick post but one that’s been a long time coming! There are two razors that stand out to me as delivering the most awful shaving experiences of my entire life. That’s despite using them multiple times with different methods and products. They both suck and I would recommend steering clear of both.
Firstly, Bic disposables:

Oh good God I hate these razors. This was my first razor and I remember it completely shredding my face apart and I never went near the thing again. Fast forward a few years and (armed with better shaving prep than ‘wet face, shave’) I decided to give this another go. If you follow me on Twitter you’ll know that I had to go into work that day looking like i’d been stabbed and slashed with a thousand tiny swords. It has no cushioning, the blade feels rough and it’s difficult to navigate the planes of your face with it. Why is this still being sold? Who’s still using a Bic?! Never. Again.
And the other winner of this dubious title? The Azor Razor.

I used this to shave this morning and it inspired this post. I hated it when it came out, I hated it last year and I hate it today. It’s clumsy, the blades feel sharp against the skin and yet it can’t give you a decent shave. At least shaving with the Bic is relatively pain-free (until you notice all the blood) – this blade actually hurts as it goes over your skin. You don’t want to keep shaving because it’s uncomfortable but you have to because it can’t do a good enough job in one pass. That means a poor shave and lots of irritation. Not even the pivoting head saves it, in fact I feel as though the head prevents the blades from getting close to the skin. I ditched it halfway through and went for a Wilkinson Sword instead, so much better. Good news is that the new Azor, Azor M Alloy, is amazing and my current favourite!
So, those are the razors I hate – no more messing around with either of them! Know of a crappy razor (or do you inexplicably like the Bic or Azor?) – let me know!

I like the Azor. But shaving is a very personal thing. I agree with you about Bics though. Last time I used one my face looked like a body double for Mel Gibson in that film about the crucifixion.
