Fragrance review time! I recently got my hands on the new Ralph Lauren Big Pony collection and, despite me not usually liking Ralph Lauren fragrances, these are actually very nice! They’re a little bit safe (which I suppose is in keeping with RL’s very clean cut image) but they have just enough variation between them to keep ‘em interesting.

I’d say this collection is an idiot’s guide to fragrance. They’re all nice in their own way, there are four to choose from depending on what you generally like in a fragrance and they’re all work-friendly. That makes them perfect for first-timers and gifts too.

Let’s get to the reviews shall we?

Blue

They say: RL Blue is an invigorating mix of lime and grapefruit for a fresh sporty scent.

I say: A nice, if slightly generic, scent. It’s the same sort of preppy all-American scent fragrance as Polo Sport. Not my cup of tea but yeah, it is sporty.

Red

They say: RL Red blends dark chocolate and musk for a spicy seductive scent.

I say: Not exactly my idea of seductive, it’s eactly what it says it is: heavy, musky and a little bit sweet. My stepdad, on the other hand, can’t get enough of this. Out of all the fragrances, this one definitely smells the most expensive – it’s just too heavy for me. This was my least favourite.

Green

They say: RL Green is an adventurous scent for the outdoorsman, featuring hints of fresh mint and ginger.

I say: I immediately knew this would be my favourite, just because i’m immediately drawn to anything ‘green’ when it comes to fragrance. This has a nice blend of citrus and spice, very refreshing and it just slices through the damp weather we’ve been having in London. Love this one.

Orange

They say: RL Orange energizes the senses with layers of mandarin and kyarawood.

I say: This is another one that I really liked. It’s zesty, refreshing and a little less citrus-y than the green one. I’d say this is the grown-up counterpart to Green; a little more masculine and a tiny bit heavier and woody.

Worth a sniff? Definitely.
