Shaving Oil – Anthony Logistics vs. King of Shaves
Time for a quick showdown between two (heavily used, as you can see!) shaving oils I keep nearby at all times. First up is one from King of Shaves and the second is from Anthony Logistics. With a price difference of around £15 (depending on where you shop) – I thought it’d be a good idea to compare the two.
Read on for the results!
Scent - I can’t detect any scent from the King of Shaves one and the Anthony Logistics smells faintly like peppermint. Neither is particularly noticeable though.
Texture - This is the main difference between the two. The King of Shaves shaving oil is light, runny and rinses off with water. Thick enough to provide a light coating on the skin, thin enough not to clog your blade or be a pain to wash off. The Anthony Logistics Shaving Oil is the complete opposite. It’s a thick, rich oil that gives your skin quite a thick coating of oil and requires a cleanser to rinse off properly.
Performance – They both perform well but they do different jobs. The King of Shaves shaving oil is great when you’re in a rush; it’s easy to apply and wash off and it gives you a better, more comfortable shave with minimal effort. It’s easy to slap this on in a rush and still get a good shave – the blade has lots of slip, hairs are lubricated so they’re easier to slice and there’s a light coating on your skin which protects it from the blade.
The Anthony Logistics shaving oil is amazing but only when you have a lot of time to shave. The thick formula coats the skin so that it’s completely protected from the blade (I don’t have any irritation using this, even if shaving on consecutive days). Not only is the skin fully protected, the oils soften coarse beard hairs very well and a very close shave is easy to achieve. The drawbacks to using this is that it needs a cleanser in order to remove the oil completely and you have to rinse your blade quite often in order to prevent it from clogging. The effort is ultimately worth it though.
Overall – Overall, these are both great shaving oils but for very different purposes. I use the King of Shaves oil on a day-today basis, without fail. Used alone or underneath shaving cream, it allows me to shave in a rush without butchering my face. The Anthony Logistics shaving oil is one I save for special occasions when I can really take the time out to shave, it takes a lot more effort but it gives me a better, closer and more comfortable shave than the King of Shaves one.
So that’s it, a £15 price difference and two very different products for it! Both awesome though, well worth a shot.

Review - Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder for Men
Great to hear that you enjoy using our AlphaOil on a daily basis! If you like the thickness of the AL oil I think you would really enjoy using the King of Shaves Kinexium Shaving Oil. It still costs a lot less than the AL oil, has heaps of skin nourishing ingredients and you can find it at almost any Boots location in the UK. What’s the main difference between Kinexium Shave Oil and AlphaOil? Kinexium has a silicone based formulation. More info below. HAPPY SHAVING! – Diane, Master Barber
BENEFITS:
Formulated with Silicone Technology for extra protection, Kinexium
Shaving Oil is extremely lubricous and easy to disperse on the face,
providing a very thin, high performance micro layer between the blade
and skin. This provides phenomenal razor glide and a blade to skin
barrier for a no burn shave. The totally clear formula allows men to see exactly where they are shaving – perfect for shaping sideburns, goatees and for avoiding problem areas. Ideal for sensitive skin.
HOW IT WORKS:
The non-water based oil employs a unique Shave Surface Enhancing
(SSE) Technology that gives excellent razor glide and a superlative
shave. The silicones that are used are non-toxic, but more importantly
non-comodegenic thus not clogging the pores and creating a smooth
canvas to shave. There is no need to wash off excess oil as it acts like a moisturizer.
Thanks for the article. I have sensitive skin so I tend not to use a razor. I use an electric one. Do you have recomendations for electric razor lotions? So far I only know of the brand Lectric but it smells so much like alcohol!
While perusing through my local drugstore, I discovered that they carry King of Shaves! I was excited since I thought the line was sold only in Europe. Manual razors are too harsh on my skin so I use an electric one. I dislike the pre-shave lotion I was using (Williams Lectric Shave) since it smells strongly of alcohol but I didn’t know of any other alternatives until I came here.
I bought the sensitive skin shaving oil (in the green bottle) and was relieved when I read that you could indeed use it as a pre-shave lotion for electric razors (in my mind I thought it was only for manual razors).
The shaving oil has a slight menthol fragrance but isn’t overpowering. I liked how easily it went on and washed off. There was no oily feeling on my face after cleansing. For those with sensitive/acne skin, shaving can be an ordeal but this helped by keeping the irritation down. I was able to shave off more hairs in fewer strokes and I didn’t notice my blemishes getting any bigger.
Thank you for your review. I definitely recommend it to anyone with sensitive skin!
