A bloody long name for a pretty amazing eye treatment, this stuff is like ice in a tube!

Not sure why it took me so long to review this product, I mentioned it in my Air Travel Essentials post a while back and have loved it ever since. The MJP For Men Anti-wrinkle, anti-puffiness, anti-dark circle gel for the eye contour (still can’t believe someone said ‘yes, that’s a great name!’ to that) is a fantastic yet rather pricey product for anyone with tired or puffy looking eyes.

As always, we’ll start with their sales pitch..

• Anti-wrinkle/Firming: smooths the skin surface, promotes collagen synthesis, firms skin, reinforces resistance, visibly diminishes wrinkles.
• Anti-puffiness: reduces swelling in tissues, promotes drainage and effectively decongests.
• Anti-dark circles: restores healthy activity to surface microcirculation to limit the appearance of dark circles.
• Protective: fights free radicals.
• Moisturising: like a “water magnet”, it prevents dehydration.
• Soothing: relieves and softens sensitive areas.

The reason why I love this product is because it’s amazing for de-puffing, refreshing and moisturising the eye area. This blue gel honestly feels freezing cold when applied to your eye area which is amazing when you have bleary laptop eyes or have had minimal sleep. If you store it in the fridge the effect is amplified and it feels even cooler. Not only does it feel great, a thin layer of this will serve to de-puff your eyes quite dramatically – much better than any other ‘de-puffing’ eye treatment I’ve tried to date (and I’ve tried a fair few!).

As for moisturising, the gel does add a light amount of moisture – just enough to make the eyes look plump and hydrated but it’s not rich or heavy in any way. It feels a little bit sticky going on but that effect seems to disappear after a while. As for anti-wrinkle and darkness properties, I didn’t see any and I wouldn’t really expect much of those from this product. However what this will do is moisturise and refresh the eye area which instantly creates the illusion of a fresher looking face.

The major ‘con’ with this product is obviously the pricetag. At €46.20, it’s quite expensive for such a small amount of product. On a positive note, the tube does seem to last a long time as one pump is enough for a generous application to both eyes.

At this price point, I’d say it’s fantastic to have in an emergency rather than every day use and i’m begrudgingly going to buy another tube when I run out (which shouldn’t be for a while thankfully!).

Do you need this product? Well, no. An ice pack followed by a gel-based moisturiser (try Clinique Moisture Surge) does the same job, albeit with a lot more effort. However this is a fantastic eye gel to have on hand in emergencies and I always reach for this when i’m flying long-distance or if I have to wake up at an ungodly hour and still look half-decent by the end of my commute. If you can spare the cash, it’s definately worth a shot.

Oh and I thought i’d add that my mum (who gets very stubborn puffy patches under her eyes) cannot stop singing the praises of this eye gel and she bought a tube too.
