Since it’s the summer, I’ve had a lot of questions coming in about male hair removal. I’ll be writing a post about each method during this month but today i’m just going to outline the options a guy has when it comes to body hair removal and the pros/cons of each.
So, read on if you’re up for a bit of (hate this word) manscaping this summer!
Shave – Shaving is by far the easiest way to get rid of body hair as quickly as possible. It’s quick, it’s clean and you can do it by yourself. However, men tend to have slightly coarser hair which makes shaving (while initially nice) a nightmare when the hair starts growing back in – and it will grow in quickly. Good in a pinch.
Wax – It’s painful, you probably won’t be able to do it youself and.. it’s painful. However the great thing about waxing is that since you’re pulling the hair out from the root, it takes a much longer time for it to re-grow. In addition to that, the longer you keep waxing a particular part of your body, the more damaged the follicles become and the slower the hair regrows. Not a bad option but even with a good waxer, it does hurt. A good option if you like to keep an area clean without constant shaving.
Trim – The middle ground. Trimming the hairs on your body makes them shorter and gives you a cleaner, more groomed look without having to completely remove the hair. You might not look completely smooth but you’ll look clean and you get to avoid any of the hassles of shaving and waxing. You’ll want to try this if you like having body hair but want it to look a bit neater.
Laser/IPL – The final option. Laser or IPL treatments. Laser hair removal quickly destroys the hair follicle in order to stop hair growing permanently or at least semi permanently. The good thing about this is that obviously you won’t have to bother with hair removal anymore, you’ll look freshly waxed every day! However, there are a few cons too. It’s quite pricey, you may have to go for lots of treatments (since men, in general, grow denser patches of hair) and if you suddenly decide you like having body hair you’ll have a long wait for your hair (if any of it) to grow back. This is a nice option for those who don’t want to mess with other methods of hair removal and know they want to keep a particular area hair free for the forseeable future.
And those are your main options for hair removal, stay tuned for a thorough review/how to for each! Do you have a favourite method of hair removal? Share it in the comments!
