Review – head&shoulders Cool Menthol Shampoo

34fbcpx Review head&shoulders Cool Menthol Shampoo

I’m asked about haircare quite often and to be honest my hair products aren’t that exciting to talk about. I have thick, short, messy hair that requires minimal effort outside of ‘wash and style’. However I was sent this shampoo a while ago and it dawned on me to write a review since I’ve finished the bottle and repurchased it – good enough reason, right?

Read on for the review!

What they say:

  • cool menthol shampoo, containing a shot of tingly natural menthol, cleanses and refreshes your hair and scalp leaving your hair beautifully clean.
  • head&shoulders cool menthol shampoo contains a blend of care and conditioning ingredients that was especially formulated for men.
  • cool menthol shampoo contains head&shoulders’ innovative HydraZinc formula which cares for the scalp and works against dandruff by effectively reducing the growth of the yeast Malassezia globosa, which naturally grows on the scalp.
  • The dandruff control acts to reduce scalp irritation and tightness from the first wash.

This pretty much ticks all the boxes for me as far as function goes. It keeps my occasionally dry scalp nice and healthy, it washes out all traces of hair product in one go and it leaves my hair feeling healthy and clean. Incidentally the conditioner is quite nice too, it leaves the hair feeling nice and soft without weighing it down and making it look floppy.

The best thing about this though? The menthol. It literally feels like ice cubes on my head (and I mean that in the most pleasant way imagineable). I’m always wary of products that promise to ‘wake you up in the morning’ but this stuff really does. I can step into the shower a bleary-eyed zombie and this stuff will pretty much zap me into consciousness, love that.

Something to note though, this will work its cooling magic on anything it touches so if you get this on your forehead (as I inevitably do) it can feel a bit odd. It’s momentary though and I sort of like it so that’s not a problem for me.

Also don’t try using this to get rid of body acne as the menthol is likely to irritate your skin, best to stick to the classic version for that.

So that’s it for my first(?) shampoo review. I’m going to have a chat with a few hairdressers so I can work on some in-depth hair posts in the future so look out for those! Also, since you’re here, what haircare do you use?
