An alternative to Vitamin C serums.

Topical application of Vitamin C is very beneficial to the skin if used in proper concentrations and delivered in the correct formula. However it can be tricky finding something that works for you, so  read on for a new alternative!

The key benefits of topical Vitamin C include:

  1. In concentrations greater than 10%, Vitamin C can help with the synthesis of collagen in skin – leaving you with thicker and smoother skin.
  2. It can help to brighten and even out skin tone; great if you have acne scars, dull skin, melasma or under eye circles.
  3. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant, actively fixing any damage caused to the skin by the sun.
There is a fantastic variety of excellent Vitamin C serums out there (and i’ll be reviewing a few of them soon) but if you don’t want to use one or can’t find one that works for you, there is an alternative. Recent studies suggest that taking a 1000mg supplement of Vitamin C Ester can have the same effect on skin as a topical Vitamin C serum. We don’t have much information regarding the level of protection but all signs point towards it being substantial.
Definitely try this one out if you can’t seem to find a decent Vit C serum! I highly suggest taking a high quality supplement to ensure you’re actually getting a viable form of the vitamin. In my experience, the cheaper supplements are useless. My personal favourites are the Solgar Ester-C 1000mg Tablets.

Hi, great blog entry, but one thing I really don’t get: “the cheaper supplements are useless”…I mean if a supplement is 1000 mg vitamin C say then it really shouldn’t matter the brand–I mean we can assume the cheaper vitamin companies are not lying I think. Maybe you just mean that the different forms, CHELATED zinc say or Vitamin C ESTER are better but more costly regardless of brand, not sure, would love some more clarification/thoughts on this. Keep up the great work!!!
