M2 Skin Refinish – Review
I’ve been using the M2 skin refinish for about two months now and I can safely say it’s one of my favourite treatments for uneven skin tone, acne scars and clogged pores/acne. Let’s take a look at what the folks at M2 say about the product:
Eliminate all your skin care woes with one easy-to-use serum. This multi-purpose face treatment uses a high-potency combination of Mandelic and Malic Acids to rapidly even skin tone, reduce breakouts, and soften wrinkles.
In my experience, this product delivers in all three of those claims. The combination of Mandelic acid and Malic acid make for a gentle yet powerful effect on the skin. Both acids are AHAs so they slowly slough away the top layer of skin cells on your face, exposing the fresh skin underneath. In addition to this they have a larger molecular structure compared to most AHAs so even those with sensitive skins should be able to use this product with minimal irritation. It also contains Algae extract which is an anti-inflammatory, excellent for acne/redness prone skin. Here’s what M2 has to say about the two acids:
Mandelic Acid is naturally antibacterial. One of the primary contributing factors to inflammatory acne is bacteria. This natural property of Mandelic Acid aids in preventing the appearance of new, unwanted blemishes. Mandelic Acid also absorbs and controls oil. And its gentle penetration protects against irritation, which can cause more redness and more scarring.Malic Acid is a natural humectant, which draws water out of the dermis and into the epidermis. This helps keep the skin hydrated, without contributing to oiliness. Its natural antioxidant properties help fight free radicals in the skin, which can contribute to skin damage. Its gentle nature makes it suitable for use on sensitive skin, even in high concentrations.
For me, the M2 skin refinish – coupled with regular use of sunscreen – has faded any acne scars I had, eliminated ingrowns and blackheads and has generally brightened up my skin. I also had an older friend use this since I don’t have any wrinkles to speak of; he emailed me with an update yesterday thanking me for the sample! This is the only skincare item (other than sunscreen) that he uses regularly and after a month he has seen a significant reduction in his acne as well as the fine lines around his eyes and forehead, it has also faded some stubborn acne scars and age spots on his cheekbones.
The product itself comes in 12% and 20% concentrations, if you’re new to AHA products start with the 12% and once you finish a bottle you can bump it up to 20% if you feel the 12% isn’t doing enough for your skin. The gel-like consistency is slightly sticky so I wouldn’t use this during the day, instead use it at night after cleansing and before moisturiser. Remember to use this with sunscreen during the day as it can make your skin more sensitive to the sun.
All in all this is a fantastic little product and well worth the money it costs. If you’re looking for an all-rounder product for your skin, i’d highly recommend this one.
Disclaimer: I bought this product myself to review on SCforM, the reviews on my blog are 100% honest.

Cosmetics - Base and Tinted Moisturiser
Review - SK-II Signs Eye Cream
I've been eyeing this lately…will probably buy a bottle when I'm finished my PC BHA liquid.
You definately should – it's a fantastic little product, let me know how you get on with it!
I was wondering if the M2 Skin Refinish is suitable for dry skin with no wrinkles. I’ve been using the 12% one for a few weeks, but it’s really drying out my skin. I don’t know whether to continue using it or to switch to a Glycolic acid product.
Try using a heavy moisturiser on top of it or mix it in! Make sure the moisturiser is very plain though, no fancy things or gimmicks.
I was wondering, can i use this with the phyto+? If so do i use this before or after applying phyto+.
Yep, use this a minute after applying the Phyto+. Best to use it at night.
Thank you! Much appreciated!
