Review – RazorPit Razor Blade Sharpener

rpps1 Review RazorPit Razor Blade Sharpener
Just a quick review of a product that has made a huge impact on my wallet as of late. This is a ridiculously simple idea and I wonder why it took the economic crisis to bring this beauty out of the woodwork.

The RazorPit both cleans and sharpens your razor after using it so as to massively extend the life of each of your razor heads. I’ve been using this with my Mach 3 fusion for a month now and i’m still on the same razor head – still as sharp and clean as when I took it out of the packet.

Here’s a quick blurb from RazorPit:

For men who want to ensure their razors shave better and last longer. This sharpener is a small silicone plate that within the a few seconds sharpens razor blades, making them as good as new. Just a few strokes on the RazorPit are enough to extend the life of blades for up to 150 shaves. It removes soap coverings, skin and hair that sticks to the cutter blade and makes them dull. RazorPit is imperishable and by extending the razor blades life, you can do your bit for the environment and save yourself money because you do not need to throw them away as often.

It works exactly as promised and I love that it manages to clear out the congealed mass of shaving oil/cream and hair from my razor blade.

Pros

  • They say it extends the life of a blade from 1 week to 150 shaves. I’ve been using this for a month now (or about 30 shaves) and it’s still going strong!
  • Cleans your razor better than frantic rinsing under a tap.

Cons

  • I think this is only available in the UK at the moment but feel free to correct me.

Razorpit is available in Canada now! It was launched this summer and we have been getting wonderful feedback from Canadian Razorpit owners. You can buy it at $25.00 (CDN) + shipping on http://www.razorpit.ca. Local retailers are available on the razorpit website also.

I think razorpit is a very poor imitation of the Blade Buddy. Blade Buddy has a micro-honing, grooved surface that straightens the edge back into alignment, restoring the sharpness of your blade. Its very hard to believe how people can compare both products. Blade Buddy is a piece of engineering.

    Congratulations BladeBuddy!

I have been throwing the blades out for the last 20 years. Just thinking about how much money I could have saved if I had used a blade sharpener….
