Here are a few things for you to look out for on your next trip to your local drugstore or chemist!

Olay Regenerist UV Defense Regenerating Lotion SPF 50

A US-only product for now but not for long. This offers great protection with a PPD rating of 12 to 13 and niacinamide features as the fourth ingredient on the ingredients list so this sunscreen packs a powerful punch. Regular use should brighten up skin tone and fade hyperpigmentation, also a good option for those with acne prone skin. Excellent for dry to normal/combination skin, avoid if you’re oily.

Eucerin Products

Eucerin has some amazing products and they’re well worth checking out if you see them in-store. Great for sensitive skin and/or skin prone to redness, the Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Sensitive Skin Cream provides moisture and antioxidants without irritating.

Coenzyme Q10 is a substance that is naturally made by the human body and is essential for the proper functioning of our cells providing anti-oxidants and aiding the production of collagen ad elastin. This is a good, cheap way to get some anti-oxidants into your skincare regime – especially you have easily agitated skin.

Aquaphor is an excellent all-purpose product, it speeds up healing time for skin and moisturises extremely well. Here are a few uses:

• This is the saving grace for every person on Accutane (a prescription medication for acne). This will quickly deal with the associated dryness that is commonly found on the lips, around the nose and on the forehead. Miles better than any lip balm.
• This can be used to quickly heal dry skin so it’s great for taking in a small tub on long-haul plane journeys.
• A thin layer of this will heal tattoos quickly and preserve them very well.
• Quickly heals irritation from playing sports such as dry heels, chafing and irritation.

This stuff is quite greasy so I’d advise using it at night but the effects are fantastic, definately one for the bathroom cabinet.

L’Oreal Solar Expertise Anti-Wrinkle and Brown Spot Matte Fluid Protection SPF 50

A European exclusive, you can find this in Boots stores and various other retailers. This sunscreen is fantastic and well worth trying out; the finish is nice and matte on the skin, it doesn’t leave your face looking white and the protection is outstanding with a PPD of 20. Probably the best sunscreen i’ve found in the UK so far in terms of both protection and the way it looks on the skin.

La Roche Posay

Americans can now find La Roche Posay in CVS, this is an excellent European line that you can find in Boots in the UK. Highlights include the sunscreens (the ANTHELIOS SX Daily Moisturizing Cream SPF 15 With Mexoryl SX provides the highest sun protection available in-store in the USA), Effaclar K which is an excellent AHA/BHA combo product for those with acne, blackheads and/or scarring and finally the Active C serum which is a fantastic Vitamin C serum that comes in a stable form and silicone base (so it’ll keep your skin matte).

King of Shaves – Shaving Oils

I just mentioned these in my ‘shaving oils’ post but it bears saying again, these are an excellent intro into the usage of shaving oil.
