Now that it’s summer, a regular moisturising cream or lotion may be too thick for your skin – especially if you have normal to oily skin. In the winter we need more moisture because of the cold but in the summer it’s better to wear lighter products to provide hydration without making you look instantly greasy and oily as soon as you heat up.

The answer to this is to use a moisturising gel. These products are much more lightweight on the skin compared to creams and lotions and yet still provide ample hydration. During the day you can wear them under your sunscreen if your sunscreen tends to make you skin feel dry. At night you can easily wear them on top of skin treatments without getting any breakouts from a heavy cream sitting on your skin.

The moistuiser pictured above is the Biotherm Aquasource Non-Stop which provides lots of moisture in a lightweight gel. It feels refreshing and cool on the skin and doesn’t break you out, perfect for the summer. It also, like most skincare products, comes repackaged as a ‘For Men’ version. In this case it is called Aqua Power and is actually the better option as it comes in a hygienic tube rather than a potentially unsanitary jar.

Another moisturising gel you make want to look into is the Clinique Moisture Surge gel. This is similar to the Biotherm moisturiser, light, moisturising and refreshing – it feels great on the skin after a shave. Clinique products come recommended if you have sensitive skin, this is a great post-shave moisturiser if you’re prone to redness and irritation.

Whichever one you decide to buy, moisturising gels are definately a good investment for your skin. They will keep you looking good in the summer and make excellent post-shave moisturisers since they won’t clog your pores as easily as thicker lotions and creams.
