Cosmetics – Highlighters

A good set of cheekbones are always attractive and whether we have them or not, there are ways to enhance the cheek bone area to give a good well-chiseled look. I use highlighters in order to subtly define my cheekbones and some of the best ones I have found come from Benefit and YSL.
Highlighters can be patted onto the skin just above the cheekbones in order to enhance them and add dimension to your face. You can also use them down the center of your nose in order to make your nose look sharper and slimmer.
The Benefit highlighters come in nail varnish-like glass bottles with built-in brush applicators, High Beam is for Fair to Medium coloured skin while Moon Beam is used for Medium/Tan skin to Dark skin. They leave a subtle, pearlescent glow to the skin where applied while leaving absolutely no shimmer at all.
To use simply use the brush applicator to place 3 very small dots across the upper part of each cheekbone and one on the bridge of the nose if you’d like to. Then quickly pat these dots into the skin, moving your fingertips up and down each cheekbone in order to blend the product into your skin – moving from your temple, across the top of your cheekbone and back again. Your skin will look brighter and your cheekbones will be subtly enhanced. These tend to be a bit oily on the skin so you may need to dust over the area with powder or blot.
Another way to highlight your face is with the YSL L’Homme Radiant Touch Highlighter. We already covered the use of this product in my ‘Concealer’ post but this also works as a highlighter. Even more subtle than the Benefit products yet just as effective, simply draw a thin line on the upper part of each cheekbone and down the nose and pat to blend in.
Highlighters add dimension to the face and highlight bone structure. They make a great addition to your cosmetics, use sparingly during the day and you can use a bit more product at night.
